Flight departments moving away from Halon 1211 hand extinguishers have a direct path in the Amerex 339TS. It holds 3.55 lb of Halotron BrX, is FAA approved in accordance with DOT/FAA/AR-01/37, meets EASA requirements, and is backwards compatible with many existing Halon 1211 installations. The 5B:C rated unit runs eight seconds with an 11 to 12 foot initial reach through a lightweight anodized aluminum valve and nozzle sized for one-handed use, with no hose to manage in a cabin or cockpit. A large stainless steel ring pull pin with nylon wire chain, all-metal valve construction including the siphon tube and a lightweight aluminum cylinder keep plastic out of the design apart from the gauge cover and hose strap.
