On the Amerex 490 the Purple K and its expellant are sealed together in the agent cylinder, ready for instant actuation and permanently protected from contamination, which makes the unit less expensive to buy and easier and cheaper to maintain and service than cartridge alternatives. With 125 lb of agent and a 320B:C rating, it is a practical fixture at fuel islands, compressor stations, and chemical process areas.
