What is the Amerex 12470?
Amerex 12470 is the Red Cylinder Cap (Amerex part 12470, item 14), listed immediately after the charged expellant cylinder on the cylinder-operated wheeled parts pages. The Parts Book carries it for the 110 cu. ft. models (467, 469, 470, 472), the 23 cu. ft. models (450, 452), the 55 cu. ft. models (491, 493) and the CO2 wheeled models (333, 334). The owner's manual instructs the technician to save the cylinder shipping cap because it must be installed whenever the cylinder is transported, and to fit it before removing the cylinder at recharge. The Parts Book notice states Amerex replacement parts must be used to protect the UL listing and keep the warranty in effect.

The expellant cylinder on the nitrogen wheeled units (models 467, 469, 470, 472, 450, 452, 491, 493) and the CO2 wheeled units (333, 334).
When is the cylinder cap used?
The owner's manual says to save the cap because it must be installed whenever the cylinder is transported, and the recharge procedure has the technician fit it before unscrewing the wing nuts and removing the cylinder.
Is it the same as the safety vent plug?
No - the manual lists the safety vent plug fitted to the valve outlet as a separate item from the cylinder shipping cap.
Does it fit the Argon Class D units?
No - the Parts Book Class D page does not list part 12470.
What color is it?
Red, per the Parts Book description.
