Amerex 16483 questions

What does the Amerex 16483 hardware fit?

The expellant cylinder retaining strap on the 110 cu. ft. models (467, 469, 470, 472), the 55 cu. ft. models (491, 493) and the Argon-charged 680R/681R Class D units.

Does it fit a “Class D 300” wheeled unit as the title suggests?

Only partly - it is listed on the Class D page, but for the 150 lb and 250 lb models 680R and 681R; the Parts Book has no Class D 300 lb model.

What does it secure?

The retaining straps that hold the nitrogen or Argon cylinder on the carriage, listed at the adjacent items on the same pages.

When is it removed?

The owner's recharge procedure has the technician install the shipping cap, unscrew the wing nuts and remove the expellant cylinder from the extinguisher.

Where is it in the Parts Book?

Item 18 on printed p.17 (PDF p.19), item 20 on p.19 and item 18 on p.23.

Does the 23 cu. ft. family use it?

No - the 450/452 page lists a different bolt, washer and wing nut set, part 11970.

Why use the genuine Amerex part?

The Parts Book notice states the Amerex warranty is voided by generic, off-the-shelf or substitute parts, and that failure to use Amerex replacement parts could cause the extinguisher to malfunction.
