What is the Amerex 23809?
Amerex 23809 is the downtube and retainer assembly used inside the agent cylinder of Amerex's 150 lb stored-pressure wheeled Halotron I extinguishers, models B674 and B675. It is one of the internal valve components -- with the spring and valve stem assembly -- that the six-year maintenance procedure has technicians remove once the extinguisher is emptied and the valve assembly is off, then reassemble with the spring before the valve goes back into the cylinder. A complete replacement valve assembly already includes one; 23809 is the standalone service part. It is item 2 on Parts Book page 25 (PDF page 27). Amerex makes genuine factory parts available to protect the UL listing and keep the warranty in effect; substitute parts void both.
