What is the Amerex 08714-P001?
Amerex 08714-P001 is the 350 psi pressure gauge for Amerex 125/250 lb dry chemical stored pressure wheeled High Performance and Z-Series extinguishers, models 573, 575, 756 and 758; models 690 and 759 take the 240 psi gauge, part 05225-P. The gauge threads into the discharge valve and reads the stored nitrogen charge, which should sit in the green zone at 350 psi plus or minus approximately 15 psi. Amerex coats the gauge threads with epoxy at the factory, so removal calls for soaking the valve assembly in 180°F water for two to four minutes and backing the gauge out with a thin 7/16 in. open-end wrench, reinstalling with Teflon tape. It is item 12 on Amerex Parts Book 27277 Rev D, printed page 20 (PDF page 22), sold as a pack of one.

Amerex 08714-P001 questions
What does the Amerex 08714-P001 gauge fit?
Amerex 125/250 lb dry chemical stored pressure wheeled High Performance and Z-Series models 573, 575, 756 and 758. Models 690 and 759 use the 240 psi gauge, part 05225-P.
What pressure should this gauge read on a charged unit?
Amerex Owner's Manual 27085 states the pressure should be in the green zone, 350 psi plus or minus approximately 15 psi, on these models.
Can the extinguisher gauge be used to set the charging pressure?
No. Amerex directs technicians to use the regulator gauge to determine when the intended charging pressure has been reached, not the extinguisher gauge.
How is the gauge removed and replaced?
The gauge threads are coated with epoxy at the factory. Amerex says to soak the valve assembly in 180°F water for two to four minutes, remove the gauge with a thin 7/16 in. open-end wrench, and reinstall using Teflon tape on the gauge threads.
Why might the gauge reading vary?
Amerex notes that slight pressure variances in the gauge reading may be found if the extinguisher has been subjected to extremes of heat or cold.
How many gauges come in this listing?
One (Pack of 1).
Where is item 08714-P in the Amerex Parts Book?
Item 12 on printed page 20 (PDF page 22) of Parts Book 27277 Rev D.
Is the Amerex 08714-P001 a genuine Amerex part?
Yes. Amerex states that replacement parts must be Amerex parts to protect the UL listing and keep the warranty in effect, and that substitute parts void both.
