Amerex 09856 is the downtube and retainer assembly for Amerex 125/250 lb dry chemical stored pressure wheeled High Performance and Z-Series extinguishers, models 573, 575, 756 and 758; models 690 and 759 use part 04938 instead. The downtube runs from inside the agent cylinder into the discharge valve, and Amerex's recharge procedure notes that pressurizing the extinguisher through the operating valve is what aerates the dry chemical properly through the downtube. The same procedure directs technicians to inspect the spring and downtube assembly during a teardown and to replace the parts if they are worn or damaged.
