What is the Amerex 24983?
Amerex 24983 is the replacement nameplate listed as item 32 in Amerex Parts Book 27277 Rev D, printed page 19, for model 493, the 300 lb wheeled Purple K dry chemical extinguisher. Owner's Service Manual PN 05614 treats the nameplate as the extinguisher's service reference: the technician checks that it is securely fastened and legible, reads the date of manufacture from it, confirms the agent type against it and compares the extinguisher's weight with the figure it shows. As the Parts Book footnote states for every nameplate on this page, it does not include the UL or USCG listing. Amerex requires its own replacement parts to protect the UL listing and warranty.
